Hello again! How are ya? I know it has been a long time since I have last posted a blog but let me tell ya life has sure kept me on my toes! Over the last few months I have managed to finish another year at MSU… Travel to Ohio (AKA what I like to call the arm pit of America) a few times and start all the summer activities in Michigan’s beautiful Upper Peninsula… and keep up on being a student athlete! So needless to say, I have had my hands full! It always seems like the Monday After NFAA Indoor Nationals is done, it marks the first day of the outdoor season. Now living in Michigan, our weather does not always cooperate. This year we have had lots of rain and wind, so not an archer’s favorite type of weather. But even with rain and wind life must go on and arrows must fly!
For me USA Archery Collegiate Outdoor Regionals starts my outdoor season. We as team host the North Regional event. It might not be a huge tournament for us but it is super fun! This year was extra special for me as my parents were able to attend and cheer me on!
Regional Qualifications went well landing me a spot on our mixed bow-hunter team for team rounds against University Wisconsin - Lacrosse. This was my very first time shooting in a team round event and it was awesome. The MSU mixed team consisted of my self and one of my teammates, Nick. We had a blast!
Nick is new to the team but is doing super well with archery and just seems to fit in really well with our group. The best part is he is another Yooper! Hallelujah… Thank God finally another YOOPER! If you are wondering who won the match well don’t worry because WHO WILL? SPARTANS WILL! That’s who! By one-point MSU got the W!
Okay so back to reality ha! It was a great match and we definitely had to work very hard to earn our win! At the end of the day both MSU and UW- Lacrosse are great teams filled with so many talented archers who cheer for one another and encourage each other to do our best!
Next Up is finals week! Two big group projects and few exams!
In the comments below share what your summer archery plans are!
